I wonder what political party she's thinking of?!?
In this article on UAW convention responses to Ford's plan for Mexico, we read: "Wendy Thompson, the former president of UAW Local 235 in Hamtramck, cited Ford's plans to expand in Mexico as a reason to encourage more grassroots political activity among members. She said members needed to support more than just the Democratic Party."
Wendy has attended a few of the recent Detroit Green local meetings at Day House.

Water for Life, Part II Today
"WATER FOR LIFE - THE DETROIT SERIES
This series will explore water issues from a perspective of social justice and human rights. How will pollution and privatization of water further exacerbate social inequities and divisions, particularly in Detroit? We all depend on access to clean and safe water, both for recreation and survival. In a world where water is increasingly a commodity, to be bottled and sold, how do we protect and preserve water as a natural resource? How do we ensure that access to water is a human right for all, regardless of where you live or your ability to pay?"
Part II: June 13, 2006

Water rip offs!
Privatization is already costing the citizens of Detroit more money. This article in the Michigan Citizen details the increased costs of Water Department contracts with private companies. With little oversight by the council, Victor Mercado's Detroit Water and Sewerage Department spent over 12 times their budget. No wonder they want to ding Detroit customers for a 33% increase in sewerage rates.

An Inconvenient Truth
Last night Priscilla saw the fact-filled film on global warming, 'An Inconvenient Truth'. While it may seem hard to sit through a Keynote (MacOS version of PowerPoint) presentation by Al Gore on this subject, she highly recommends seeing it. It will open at the Royal Oak Main next Friday. Who wants to go?
Here's an interview with Al Gore from NPR.
